Police Commissioner Mike Bush says an investigation into a group of young men who boasted online about having sex with young women will conclude soon.
Mr Bush was inducted as commissioner on Thursday by Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae.
Police are investigating a group of 17- and 18-year old males known as the "Roast Busters" who said they'd had sex with intoxicated girls, some of them under age.
Mr Bush expects a result from the investigation soon, but is not giving details or saying whether charges will be laid.
He says the public can be reassured that the victims are at the heart of the investigation.
