The family of Kurt Green, a missing Christchurch man, have been notified about the discovery of a body on a West Coast beach.
The body was found on Rupahoe Beach, north of Greymouth at about 8.35pm on Wednesday.
Inspector John Canning said the body is yet to be formally identified and has been sent to Christchurch for a post-mortem.
Inspector Canning said no one else has been missing in the area recently.
Because of where the body was found, the odds are likely it is Mr Green, 30, who was last seen in the Blaketown Beach area near Greymouth last month.
