Mana party leader Hone Harawira says he is talking to Internet Party founder Kim Dotcom about how a hi-tech economy could improve Maori job prospects and reduce their rates of offending.
A visiting delegation from the United Nations Human Rights Council says the Government needs to investigate a systemic bias against Maori in the criminal justice system, which leads to high Maori rates of incarceration.

Mr Harawira says the new police Commissioner, Mike Bush, has shown he wants to change how Maori and the police interact, by using iwi liaison officers more frequently.
He says it makes sense to talk to Mr Dotcom. "Why not see whether or not that the attitudes that he can bring in terms of new ways of looking at the world - in terms of the internet, in terms of high-tech jobs - any driving younger people to engage positively in our world creates an environment where less and less Maori end up in trouble with the law."
