Delays for Christchurch commuters

9:32 pm on 8 April 2014

Christchurch commuter traffic was seriously delayed again on Tuesday due to repairs to earthquake damaged pipes on two central city streets.

More than 40 crews are working on roads including Durham Street and Montreal Street which are down to one lane at certain points.

Christchurch City Council transport manager John Mackie said crews are trying to get the repairs done as quickly as possible. He said people should avoid Montreal and Durham streets during peak hour traffic if possible.

Mr Mackie said the next two months would be the peak of intense repairs.
