Minister for Sexual Violence Services Paula Bennett says she accepts that more funding for the sector is needed.
Latest crime statistics show reported sexual assaults nationwide are up almost 12 percent, but police believe that is likely due to an increase in reporting.
A parliamentary inquiry into the funding of specialist sexual assault services has received nearly 1000 written submissions.
Paula Bennett says the Government puts about $63 million a year into providing services for victims and perpetrators of sexual abuse, including through the Accident Compensation Corporation.
Mrs Bennett acknowledges there are gaps. However, she said the Government is in a budget process and is not in a position to go into further details.
