A man has been jailed after admitting the possession of hundreds of pictures and videos of children involved in sexual activity.
Some involved children in acts of sadism and bestiality.
Conan McClelland, 35, was sentenced to 12 months in jail after pleading guilty in the Palmerston North District Court on Friday.
Police found 984 images and 383 videos of an objectionable nature on his personal computer.
Department of Internal Affairs community safety manager Steve O'Brien said McClelland had been sharing files for four years.
