The death of a woman at a rural property in North Otago is believed to be connected to a fatal road crash early Thursday.
Officers discovered the body of the 51 year old on Thursday morning when they visited the Waianakarua property to advise the woman of her husband's death in the crash on State Highway One, south of Herbert three hours earlier.
Detective Senior Sergeant Malcolm Inglis says the woman's death is believed to be a homicide but they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the matter.
Two teenage boys at the address are being supported by police and victim support.
Police staff and a specialist team from ESR were carrying out a scene investigation at the property on Thursday.
