Dozens without power on West Coast

9:37 pm on 21 April 2014

Electricity company Westpower says about 100 properties remain without power on the West Coast.

Remnants of Cyclone Ita lashed much of New Zealand from Thursday, cutting power, damaging buildings and disrupting transport as the Easter break began.

Westpower chief executive Rob Caldwell said on Monday that crews have restored power to properties in Greymouth, Blaketown and Cobden.

Just under 100 in the Whataroa area remain disconnected from the grid and Mr Caldwell expects that most of those to be restored on Tuesday.
