The person who came to the rescue of an injured woman in Blenheim in the early hours of Sunday morning, is being sought by the police.
The victim - who an eyewitness described as intoxicated - was walking home along Scott Street when she received injuries to her elbows and face.
The woman told the police she was the victim of an assault and had also lost some money. She said she had been drinking at a nearby hotel and had left alone to walk the short distance home.
The police would like to speak to the person who was seen assisting the woman and anyone else who was in the Scott Street area at around 2.45am on Sunday morning.
