Auckland motorway reopens after crash

4:28 pm on 1 May 2014

Auckland's Southern Motorway has reopened after a truck crash but vehicles on it aren't moving anywhere fast.

There's still severe congestion in both directions on Thursday at 4.30pm.

Auckland Transport says some buses that would normally use the motorway have been forced onto Great South Road.

The truck carrying bags of ice rolled shortly after 2.30pm and heavy equipment had to be called in.

It caused traffic to back up for kilometres in both directions.
