A life raft and other equipment from a yacht missing for more than a month have been found on both sides of the Foveaux Strait.

The Munetra left Bluff on 16 April with three German people aboard. They are Andre Kinzler, 33, and two tourists, Lea Tietz and Veronika Steudler, both 19-years-old.

The yacht was reported missing on 24 April.

Police said a fisherman found a life raft on Stewart Island at the weekend which is now confirmed as belonging to the Munetra.

A cushion found in Paihia on the south coast on Monday was also from the yacht.

Police officers and search and rescue volunteers scoured the south coast for further signs of the yacht on Tuesday.
