The demolition of another heritage building began in Christchurch on Tuesday.
The Majestic Theatre, on Manchester Street in the central city, was deemed unsafe after the earthquakes and was bought by the Crown last year.
Heritage groups appealed to the city council last month to intervene but Mayor Lianne Dalziel said at the time the council had no grounds to seek a judicial review.
Heavy machinery is on site and deconstruction has begun.
