Nelson harbour houseboat towed away

1:05 pm on 15 May 2014

A houseboat in Nelson's harbour which sparked a stand off between its owner and the Nelson City Council has finally been removed.

The makeshift shack owned by Paul Jepson was towed away from Nelson's inner harbour on Thursday morning.

Harbourmaster Dave Duncan said the houseboat would be lifted out of the water and dismantled at Port Nelson.

A deadline imposed by the Environment Court to remove the structure expired this week.

The court deemed the houseboat to be a structure without resource consent, being used as a dwelling.
