One person has died and another has been flown to hospital after a crash in Waikato.
The collision happened on the outskirts of Ohaupo, about 20km south of Hamilton, at 5.50pm on Monday.
Police said it would be some time before they know exactly what happened in the collision involving a number of vehicles.
The Serious Crash Unit has been able to confirm that a yellow Mazda heading north passed another vehicle and crossed the centre line. It drove into the path of two cars and a truck, killing the woman driving it.
A person from one of the other vehicles is in hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
The crash has caused major delays. Traffic is being diverted and drivers are being urged to take other routes such as State Highway 39 via Ngahinapouri.
