A roadside reserve on State Highway 1 next to Lake Karapiro in Waikato is closed after drug manufacturing equipment was discovered by a member of the public.
Several empty containers, along with glass jars and plastic tubes that had been used to hold acid were found in the reserve.
Police said it's still too early to establish what they are dealing with and it was prudent to seal off the area until the arrival of forensic experts from Auckland.
They anticipate the reserve will be reopened later on Tuesday.
