A woman seriously injured in a car crash in Auckland early on Friday morning, has died in hospital surrounded by her family after her life support was switched off.
Karen Yin Yong, who was 49, was on the Southern Motorway when her car was hit by another vehicle that was travelling the wrong way.
Police said it was a tough pill for the family to swallow, and a needless loss of life.
The crash is being investigated.
