A man whose adopted daughter bore him a child has pleaded guilty to three charges of incest.
The 60-year-old man, whose name cannot be published for legal reasons, adopted the girl in 2007 when she was 15.
A summary of facts at a High Court hearing in Wellington showed the girl was expected to clean the house and cook for her adopted family and was beaten when she failed to do so.
About three years after she was adopted, her father began sexually abusing her, culminating in a pregnancy.
The young woman was charged with murdering the baby, whose body was found in a neighbour's garden in 2012, but that prosecution was brought to an end earlier this year.
The man will be sentenced in July.
