A man who escaped from a prison has been found hiding in a hot water cupboard in a house on a farm near Milton in South Otago.

Stephen Maddren was being taken back to the Otago Correctional Facility near Milton after a court appearance on 3 June when he fled from his escorts.
Police say the 25-year-old was arrested about 12.45pm on Tuesday after being found in the cupboard and was being taken to the Dunedin police station.
