A 26-year-old man has been arrested following a daytime machete attack in central Palmerston North.
Police in the city say the attack occurred shortly after 1pm on Friday.
Detective Sergeant Dave Thompson said the 26-year-old was arguing with another man on Main Street before striking him with a machete.
Mr Thompson said the victim's arm was badly cut, and he was taken to Palmerston North Hospital.
He said the two men involved were believed to know each other.
The man is due to appear in Palmerston North District Court on Monday on a charge of wounding with intent to injure.
