Shops hit in early morning ram-raids

11:22 am on 16 June 2014

Two shops have been ram-raided in neighbouring suburbs south of Auckland, in burglaries police say could be related.

A hunting shop in Manukau Road, Pukekohe, was rammed at 4.20am on Monday. Although the shop was damaged, nothing was thought to have been taken.

Just before 5am a clothing store in Queen Street, Waiuku, was ram-raided and a large quantity of clothes taken. Some were seen hanging out of the boot of the car as it drove away.

Inspector Tony Edwards said a different vehicle was seen at the second shop and the attacks were not definitely linked, but there were similarities.

"Both premises were subject to burglaries within half an hour and they're in neighbouring suburbs," he said.
