Heavy rainfall in Bay of Plenty has caused slips and brought down trees on roads.
A landslide brought down trees on Tauranga's Welcome Bay Road and another slip partly blocked State Highway 2 towards Rotorua, police said. Crews were on site before daylight clearing the debris.
Up to 150mm of rain had been forecast in the eastern ranges of the Bay of Plenty and the northern Gisborne area overnight on Wednesday.
