Residents' satisfaction with council drops

Residents' satisfaction with the Christchurch City Council has dropped to its lowest point in three years, according to the council's General Service Satisfaction survey.

Council chief executive Karleen Edwards said this year's survey showed satisfaction at 64 percent - down from 70 percent in each of the past two years.

The new council had been appointed to implement change, and the survey allowed it to evaluate areas where it was under-performing, she said. Those areas included infrastructure repairs, building consents and social housing facilities.
