Otara factory fire contained

6:11 pm on 4 July 2014

A large fire at a South Auckland factory that makes building wrap has been controlled.

About 70 firefighters were called to the Thermakraft plant in Otara about 12.15pm on Friday.

Northern Fire communications shift manager, Dallas Ramsay, says most of the firefighters have now left the plant in Turin Place.

Ms Ramsay said the manufacturing area where the fire is believed to have started is severely damaged.

At least four crews would stay at the scene to make sure it doesn't flare up again.

There had been no injuries and the fire was not considered suspicious.
