A Hamilton man charged with the murder of baby in the city in June has pleaded not guilty.

He appeared in the High Court on Tuesday morning and also had name suppression lifted.

Charlie Lackner, 33, is accused of killing eight month old Cassius Takiari at a property in York Street in Hamilton East.

He has been remanded in custody to reappear for a case review hearing and for the court to hear a bail application on 29 September.

Meanwhile, a woman accused of trying to kill her partner by running him over has also pleaded not guilty in the High Court in Hamilton.

Annette Kaye Wallis, 44, is charged with attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm.

A 43 year old man received serious injuries after being struck by a car and then run over repeatedly outside a shop in the suburb of Melville in November last year.

A short time after the incident the woman's car went over a 10-metre bank into the Waikato River.

Ms Wallis has been remanded in custody to appear for trial on 18 August.
