A man whose body was found in a Northland forest 20 years after his disappearance has been named.
He was Te Reti Mahu Mariu from Ahipara, near Kaitaia. He was 42.
Forestry workers in the Brynderwyn Hills area found the body and called police at 2.45pm on Thursday.
Police said property belonging to Mr Mariu was found close by.
They say there are no suspicious circumstances relating to his disappearance or death and the matter has been referred to the Coroner.
