A man has been remanded on bail after another man suffered serious facial injuries following a pig hunting competition near Nelson.

Paul Walker, 41, from Wakefield appeared in the Nelson District Court on Monday charged with wounding with reckless disregard.

The charge relates to an assault in the toilets at the Wakefield Hotel in June this year.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Johnston said police believe that another man was present at the time and are urging him to come forward.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Nelson police.
