Land search and rescue members in Canterbury are attempting to find a man who is missing on the Sharplin Falls track in the Mt Somers area near Methven.
The British man called police from his cellphone today to tell them he was lost after wandering from the track.
Police have tracked his location through his smartphone, and it is believed he is about half an hour from the road's end.
The man is not injured and is wearing warm clothing.
