The company with the rights to screen the English Premiere League football games won't say how many subscribers have signed up to view the event online.

The 2014/15 EPL season kicks off this weekend, with Manchester United taking on Swansea in the first match tomorrow night (NZ time).

Like last year, the broadcast rights are held by the small Auckland-based online streaming service, Coliseum Sports Media, rather than the usual rights-holder, Sky TV.

Coliseum chief executive Tim Martin says improvements have been made to the service after a few technical glitches and undesirable pricing options last year.

However, the company says details about how many subscribers have signed up to view the games is commercially sensitive.

One match each week will be played on free to air Television New Zealand.
