Connor Morris died on his way to hospital after a street fight in West Auckland on 2 August. He had sustained a head injury from an unknown weapon.

The 26-year old was the son of a prominent Head Hunters gang member. He was the partner of Millie Elder-Holmes, daughter of broadcaster Sir Paul Holmes.

A man arrested in Kaitaia this morning has made an appearance in Kaitaia District Court. He was granted name suppression and remanded in custody.

Police said the court session was closed due to security fears.

Reaction in social media has been swift, with some friends saying it's about time an arrest was made.
