State Highway One south of Taupo was closed for more than four hours overnight after 20 litres of acid spilled out of a truck. The fire service had cleared the road by 4am.
And three people have been taken to hospital after a truck rolled on the Desert Road 20 kms south of Turangi, just before 4am.
The police say none have serious injuries.
The Desert Road remains open.
