A new video aimed at helping teenagers step in and stop sexual violence at parties has been released.

The video is made by young people working with Rape Prevention Education and is aimed at those aged 15 to 18.

Rape Prevention Education director Kim McGregor said the release was timely, given recent scandals such as the so-called Roastbusters group; young men who boasted online about having sex with drunk girls, some of them under age.

"We've given young people ideas about how they can step in safely to help their friends," Ms McGregor said.

"The Roastbusters situation certainly enhanced the need for that."
