A 17-year-old man has been charged with assault after a fight in Auckland's North Shore which left large amounts of blood spilled on and near a wharf early this morning.
Police say a fight took place involving a number of people on the Beach Haven wharf at around 3.30am.
Detective senior sergeant Brett Batty said they were still trying to work out what happened, and believe the blood was a result of a number of fights between several different groups.
He said the blood might not necessarily be from the same person.
Mr Batty said they were reviewing CCTV footage.
The 17-year-old is due to appear in the North Shore District Court this week.
