Police say Christchurch homes close to the scene of a crash involving gas bottles in Mount Pleasant are being evacuated as a precaution tonight.
A truck carrying about 12 full gas bottles crashed on Glenstrae Road this afternoon.
Police said fire crews are assessing the scene and cordons are being set up on McCormacks Bay Road.
They said the driver of the truck has been taken to hospital, but no further details on the man's condition were available.
People are being asked to avoid the area.
