6:54 pm on 16 September 2014

The Government has confirmed a $100 million boost for the University of Canterbury.

The February 2011 earthquake made 10 of its buildings unable to be used and caused the student population to drop by 15 percent. Last year, the university posted a $68 million loss.

Speaking on campus today, Chancellor John Wood confirmed a $100 million grant from the Government.

Mr Wood said the money would go toward the new Rutherford Science and Innovation centre.
