About 300 protesters have marched up Auckland's Queen Street as part of a global protest urging more action on climate change.

The People's Climate March is occurring in about 150 countries today.

Footage from the different protests will feature at the United Nations Climate Summit of world leaders taking place in New York in the coming week.

An Auckland protest spokesperson said the National Government should use its third term to make positive changes towards fighting climate change.
