A man who doused himself in petrol and set himself alight in Tauranga has died from his injuries.
The man was taken to hospital in a critical condition on 20 September after emergency services were called to a street corner in the city.
A police spokesperson said the man was badly burned with self-inflicted burns. He was transferred to the intensive care unit at Auckland's Middlemore hospital but a hospital spokesperson confirmed today that the man died on Friday.
The police had referred the death to the coroner.
