Police in Southland are investigating a serious assault at a house in Riverton earlier this week which left a man with multiple head injuries.
Police said an ambulance was called to a house on Violet Street where a 32-year-old man had been seriously assaulted on Wednesday.
Detective Sergeant Mark McCloy said the man was taken to Invercargill Hospital, then flown to Dunedin Hospital because of the severity of his injuries and is in a serious condition.
Mr McCloy said a number of witnesses have been spoken to and police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
