Man sought over Motueka AOS callout

Police say they are still urgently seeking a man wanted in connection with an armed offenders callout in Motueka.

Jahdai Brice Kennard sparked two armed responses in the region this week.

The armed offenders squad was first deployed on Tuesday after Mr Kennard allegedly threatened a group of people in Motueka with a firearm, before going on the run.

A possible sighting of the 27-year-old in the Nelson suburb of Tahunanui the next day led to the lockdown of a school and many road closures.

It turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Johnston urged the public not to help or approach the wanted man.
