A body has been pulled from the water in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf ,in the same area where one fishermen drowned and another went missing two weeks ago.
The police recovered the body in the water near Kawau Island this afternoon.
They said a formal identification process would get underway and they could not comment on the identity of the body until that had been completed.
Kawau Island is off the coast of Martins Bay, north of Auckland, from where the two fishermen disappeared in mid-October.
The body of one of the men, Stewart Atutahi, was recovered soon afterwards in the Kawau Bay area.
But the second man, Nicholas Stubbs, was not found and the search for him was scaled back just over a week ago.
