A 17-year-old girl is in hospital after a fight following school graduation celebrations in the Eastern Bay of Plenty town of Opotiki early this morning.
Tauranga-based rescue helicopter pilot Liam Brettkelly said the girl was knocked unconscious.
She was flown to hospital with a suspected serious head injury.
Mr Brettkelly said the girl was with a group of friends in the town's main street when she was allegedly assaulted about 4.30am.
Opotiki College was offering support to students affected by the incident.
