An Opotoki farmer is in Whakatane hospital in a stable condition after being attacked by one of his cows.
The rescue helicopter crew said the 50-year-old man and his wife were working in the stock yards with a herd of cows when one attacked the man three times.
The farmer had serious chest injuries and has been flown to Whakatane hospital.
