The State Services Commission confirmed yesterday it has been investigating a complaint about the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority's chief executive, following a complaint from a senior staff member.

Prime Minister John Key, speaking from Brisbane, said he had been aware of the investigation as it had gone on but for obvious reasons he had not seen the investigation's report and did not know the outcome.

He said it was a very specific matter between the State Services Commissioner and the chief executive and ultimately it was an employment matter.

"We need to leave it with those two different parties, and I understand the report's going to come out pretty soon and we'll see where it goes."
