Student Job Search says it has 60% more students looking for work this summer than last, but up to 20% fewer jobs.
The agency says a Government grant of $785,000 and a campaign to get employers to hire students is starting to show results.
Chief executive Paul Kennedy says he wants to show businesses how students can add value to a firm.
For instance, he says an IT student could develop a web page for a business, at very low cost, which would improve visibility and profits.
