Drink-driver sped through crash scene

3:28 pm on 20 November 2014

Police in Waikato are livid about the behaviour of a drink-driver who sped through a crash scene near Huntly on Monday.

They said a car sped through the area of the accident, making rescue staff leap for safety.

A patrol car then chased the vehicle and recorded it travelling at 113 km an hour, they said.

When stopped 4km down the road, the 51-year-old woman driving was found to have a breath alcohol level of over 1000 micrograms per litre of breath - almost three times the legal limit.

The driver would appear in court and had her car impounded.

Police said such behaviour was completely unacceptable.

One person was injured in the original accident.
