Emergency services are at the scene of a large diesel spill across the northbound lane of State Highway One between Invercargill and Balclutha.
Police said about 200 litres has spilled from a truck, and the slippery road surface was causing problems.
They said it was particularly dangerous in the 4 Mile Creek area.
