A spokesperson for the Authority said couches, household waste, up to 25 shrivelled hedgehogs, a demolished house, television sets, and shopping trolleys had been found dumped in the red zone.

The Authority said the suburb of Bexley had the most reports of illegal dumping with 151 - there were 150 reports in Avondale and 124 in Burwood.

The spokesperson said the of cost collecting the illegally-dumped rubbish from land, which before March 2013 was still in private hands, was a waste of taxpayers' money.
