The Maori King's son has been convicted for drinking and driving after previously being discharged.
Korotangi Paki had admitted being five times over the youth alcohol driving limit and stealing surfboards in Gisborne.
But when the 19-year-old appeared at the Auckland District Court in May this year for sentencing, the judge discharged him without conviction after it was argued that a conviction could end his chances to be the next Maori King.
The Crown appealed against that decision to the High Court.
Justice Woolford allowed the discharge on the burglary charges, but convicted Paki for drink-driving. He was disqualified from driving for eight months.
