Statoil offices targeted in Wellington

Greenpeace protesters sealed off the entrance to the Statoil energy company in Wellington this morning.

They said it was in protest at deep-sea oil drilling and the threat to climate change from burning fossil fuels.

The action took place on the 18th floor of a Wellington high rise at about 8am.

Statoil is the Norwegian state-owned energy company which is prospecting for oil off the New Zealand coast.
