A 56-year old motorcyclist has died after colliding with a car on State Highway 7 between Culverden and Hanmer Springs.
The man, who was riding a Harley Davidson, crashed into a car two and a half kilometres south of Marble Point Winery about 11am today.
He was airlifted to Christchurch hospital but died in the Emergency Department.
Police said the five people in the car, who were all wearing safety belts, were not injured.
An investigation into the cause is underway.
The holiday road toll is now five.
