Good start to solo Trans-Tasman rowing marathon

New Zealand rower Shaun Quincey says the first day of his two-month solo journey across the Tasman Sea went well.

His father Colin Quincey rowed from New Zealand to Australia in the 1970s and Shaun Quincey left from Australia on Wednesday to do the trip in reverse.

On Thursday morning, he told Summer Report, he was about 18 nautical miles off the coast.

He said he had given himself about five days to "get into the swing of things" and start getting his routine sorted out.
